Commodore Moore& #39;s traditional naval full dress cocked hat made of beaver skin, trimmed with a 1 1/2& #34; band of gold lace along the top and gold bullion tassels fore-and-aft. The white silk interior has a printed paper trade label indicating that the headgear was retailed by George B. Foster, a military outfitter in Boston. A wide band of vertical gold lace bisects the side body of the headgear. From the top is a small anchor button then a large cockade with Silver Star
backed by a seven-pointed star that may or may not be original. Beneath the cockade is a & #34;Texas Navy& #34; button with a large embroidered silver fouled anchor at bottom.

Beaver skin body thinning with slight wear. Heavier wear to & #34;V& #34;
shaped black silk brocade work. Cockade metallic seven-pointed star with bend tip and paint loss. $7,000 - $10,000
