Cal. about 54. NSN. Bbl. 42 3/4" heavy oct. measuring 1 3/16" across flats. Brass blade front sight w/ fixed V notch rear sight. Bolster style conversion. Top flat of bbl. has filler in extra dovetail near breech end w/ 2 holes for sight attachment & top tang. Golcher marked engraved trade lock & hammer. Dbl. set triggers. Full length pin fastened artificially striped hardwood stock w/ Roman nose comb. Pierce segmented rectangular lid engraved patchbox w/ fancy finial. Other brass fittings consist of crescent buttplate, toeplate, cheekpiece plate, finger curl trigger guard, side plate escutcheons, plain pipe, 2 thimbles & nose cap. Hardwood ramrod. Oval brass tag marked "J.M. DAVIS / 6876 / MEMORIAL" is attached to trigger guard. The JM Davis Firearms Museum in Claremore, OK is home to the world's largest privately held firearms collection. WEIGHT: 15 lbs., 3 oz. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to a mottled gray brown showing spots of pitting. Stock has a dark weathered appearance in forearm w/ lighter appearance in butt showing the artificial striping. Stock shows numerous dents & handling marks w/ lg. crack through wrist area. Area above lock has wood erosion w/ wood plastic fill. Lock will cock & fire when trigger is set. Bore has bright appearance retaining sound rifling. PROVENANCE: From the JM Davis Museum Collection.
