1851 NAVY REVOLVERS. S#: JBH100 & JBH101. This attractive set was presented as the "Best of Show" award by the Colorado Gun Collector's Association at their 2012 Denver show. The winning display, titled "Winchester Model 42 Elite Grades," was the winner among a field of 78 displays. Both cals. are .36. Bbls. are 7 1/2", octagon with cone-type sights. Six-shot round roll-engraved cyls. Bbls., frames, grip straps, loading levers, and hammers have 75% coverage of open-pattern foliate scroll hand engravings. Full silver finishes. Synthetic ivory American Eagle grips. A limited edition of 500 was issued as a tribute to "Prince of Pistoleers," as Bill Hickok was known. These ornate revolvers were issued only in pairs, as Hickok always carried two. Mfg. in Italy by Uberti. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original glass top French fit case with segmented green interior. The centerpiece of the case is a synthetic leather commemorative plaque holding a dead man's hand (aces & eights) of playing cards. The case also holds two powder flasks, two nipple wrenches, two bullet molds, and the case key. CONDITION: both revolvers appear unfired. Silver finishes have acquired light-age-related tarnishes. The right grip panels show some age-related yellowing. (01-24679 & 01-24680/DS). ANTIQUES. $2,000-3,000.
