AMERICAN INDIAN CEREMONIAL PIPE TOMAHAWK WITH

INLAID PEWTER HEAD & FULL HAFT. Overall length: 19 1/2". Head length: 9 1/4". Blade length: 4 1/4". A ceremonial pipe tomahawk likely dating from the 1890's and possibly from the Blackfoot tribe featuring a large cast pewter head with red catlinite inlaid arrow point design. The 1 1/2" tall bowl has ringed decoration at the top and bottom. There is lineal decoration at the molding and a chevron below the bowl. The haft is diamond shaped in cross section with a smoothed 3 1/4" area just up from the base. The haft has some pyrographic embellishments throughout its length. CONDITION: the head shows some wear with the pipe bowl being slightly out of round. The catlinite inlay is cracked with minor losses. The haft remains quite strong and solid.
