UGARTECHEA MFG. 1942. S# 24121. Bbls. 28 1/8" w/ 2 3/4" chambers. Bbls. w/ flat tapered filed top rib w/ brass front bead & engraved "Ugartechea" on top of left tube. Chopper lump bbls. w/ proof marks on polished flats & sm. ring of engraving near breech. Splinter forend checkered in point pattern w/ diamond at center has rose & scroll engraved iron w/ Anson type push button release. Coin finished sidelock action is beautifully rose & scroll engraved in about 80% coverage w/ beaded fences & side clips. Blued top lever & top tang are nicely rose & scroll engraved w/ gold inlaid "S" in front of safety. Gun made w/ dbl. triggers (front trigger articulated), auto ejectors, auto safety, self opener. Straight English grip, buttstock checkered in point pattern through the wrist w/ teardrops behind the locks appears to be flame grained American walnut & terminated w/ a thin Silvers type red pad. Long tang trigger guard w/ rolled edge for right handed shooter is nicely scroll engraved as well. LOP: 13 7/8". Dimensions: Right: .723", choke: .024"(mod.). Left: .722", choke: .037"(full). Minimum wall thickness: Right: .030". , left .030". DAC: 1 7/16". DAH: 2". Weight: 7 lbs., 1 oz. CONDITION: excellent. Bbls. retains nearly all of a competently restored rust blue finish. Action retains most of its coin finish w/ engraving lightly thinned. Buttstock & forearm appears to be expert replacements & retain nearly all of their custom finish w/ only minor handling marks. Bores are bright & shiny. Mechanics are fine. Gun is tight & on face. At first glance this gun could easily be mistaken for a Purdey & would make a very fun & usable tool in the field. (22-1163/JSL).
