EJECTOR GAME GUN BY WILLIAM POWELL. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 8437. 29 1/8" Damascus bbls. engraved "William Powell & Son 13 Carrs Lane, Birmingham." on concave game rib w/ doll's head extension. Bbl. flats stamped w/ Birmingham reproofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Original black powder proofs ("12 B 13 M" & "NOT FOR BALL") are on bottoms of bbls. Case hardened boxlock action features nonautomatic safety & dbl. triggers. Watertable stamped w/ London view proofs & Anson & Deeley patent use number "4200". Action is in line & sm. scroll border engraved. Maker's name is on each side. Blued top lever, floorplate & trigger guard are also engraved w/ scroll borders. S# is on trigger guard tang. Long rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock is of very nicely marbled & lightly figured European walnut & measures 14 7/8" over black "Old English" type pad installed over old base plate. Side panels are checkered & well cut point pattern checkering is at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter Deeley ejector forend has Anson release & tube is marked w/ patent information. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .738", left: .739". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes w/ black canvas carrying case lined in gray faux fur. Photocopy of factory ledger page dated 1887 w/ specifications indicating this gun was made for G. T. Wright & retailed for 25 pounds. CONDITION: fine as completely refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a bright brown w/ very little definition to Damascus pattern. Action retains nearly all of a watery case hardening recolor. Secondary blued parts retain nearly all of their high quality reblue. Stocks are nicely refinished in oil. Checkering is competently recut. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are on time. Case is good. (21-4032/MGM). CURIO. $1,250-2,000.
