1887 Martini Henry Enfield 577/450 Cal Military Rifle Original MK 1V 1st Class.

The Martini–Henry is a breech-loading single-shot rifle with a lever action that was
used by the British Army. It first entered service in 1871, eventually replacing the
Snider–Enfield, a muzzle-loader converted to the cartridge system.
This unit is an original MK 1V 1st Pattern - NOT a Nepal Pass Made or IMA version..

Includes the Original Cleaning Rod ..

Bluing is all brown all over except under the wood - Under the wood it looks like it is
brand new. (See Picture) Where the blueing is wore on the outside the bluing under
the wood looks amazing for its age. A lot of IMA rifles are pitted and look like junk
under the wood but this one is truly amazing condition under the wood... a Good Collector
level Rifle..

Markings indicate 4th Gorka Rifle Regiment with Fort William and Enfield Rondels
on stock.

Leather sling is a Repro.

The .577/450 Martini–Henry is a black powder, centrefire rifle cartridge. It was the
standard British service cartridge from the early 1870s that went through two changes
from the original brass foil wrapped case (with 14 parts) to the drawn brass of two
parts, the case and the primer.
The .577/450 Martini–Henry was introduced with the Martini–Henry, in service it
succeeded the .577 Snider cartridge and was used by all arms of the British armed
forces as well British colonial forces throughout the British Empire until it was itself
succeeded by the .303 British cartridge after an unsuccessful trial of a .402 calibre.
