EXQUISITE BULINO GAME SCENES OF RARE SCOTTISH GAME BIRDS AND EXCEPTIONAL FOLIATE SCROLL BY LORENZO GAMBA. Cal. 12 ga. 2 3/4". S# 13052. The 26 3/4" chopperlump bbls. are gold inlaid "Armi Flli Poli" on swamped game rib. There are thin gold lines at breech ends of bbls. Bbl. flats are stamped with 1996 Italian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped "demibloc". Coin finished sidelock action features nonautomatic safety ("S" inlaid in gold) and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with near full coverage very delicately cut and shaded scrolling acanthus with small vine background. Engraver's signature "L. Gamba" and "INC" (chiseling) is on trigger plate. Bottom of action has detailed bulino scene of capercaillie calling while standing on rotting log. Lockplates show full coverage to borders of other Scottish game scenes with ptarmigan taking wing from crag top in winter highland setting. Right lockplate shows two black grouse fighting on hilltop lek under larch branches. Scenes are very meticulously detailed and shaded. Engraver's signature "L. Gamba" is on both sideplate scenes (Lorenzo Gamba is a very talented Giovanelli school trained master of both chisel and burin). More fine scroll is on single beaded trigger guard bow. Serial number is gold inlaid on tang. Striking marbled and finely fiddle figured fleshtone European walnut buttstock measures 14 7/8" over checkered wood butt. Stock features fluted drop points and closely spaced point pattern checkering at grip. Matching long splinter ejector forend has Anson release. A gold Poli shield device is inlet on uncheckered central diamond. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .719", L .720". Restriction: R .014" (LIGHT MOD), L .027" (MOD). Min.
