WITH MILLER SINGLE TRIGGER. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 27748 (circa. 1922). Bbls. 28" w/ slightly raised matted rib marked w/ Chromox steel information & Fox name & address on tops. Breech ends engraved w/ 2" triangles of lg. shaded scrolling acanthus. Barrel flats stamped w/ grade & serial number along w/ Fox proof. Case hardened Fox action w/ non automatic safety has usual rotary bolt & fitted w/ Miller single selective trigger which has rocker type selector. All correct markings are on water table. Action engraved in usual later XE style w/ near full coverage of shaded scrolling acanthus surrounding game scenes on sides in oval vignettes; w/ pair of flying quail on left & ducks on right. “ANSLEY H. FOX” is above each scene. Bottom of action has bushy tailed fox w/ mountains in background in oval. Trigger plate engraved w/ matching acanthus. Blued trigger guard has vacant shield on bow & serial number on tang. Very nicely streaked & lightly figured European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14" over relatively new Silver type pad. Side panels checkered & grip checkering is in a fairly fancy pattern at rear. Matching long splinter ejector forend w/ thin schnabeled horn(?) tip is near fully checkered & has Deeley type release. Ejector patent dates are on iron. MEASUREMENTS: bore diameter: left .729, right .728. Bore Restrictions: left .025 Mod., right .007 IC. Wall Thickness: left .026, right .024. DAC: 1 5/8". DAH: 2 3/4". WEIGHT: 7 lbs. CONDITION: fine as partially restored. Barrels w/ nearly all of a very fine reblack that if sides of flats had been re engine turned, it would be difficult to distinguish from original. Action retains 70-80% original case hardening color, quite strong where protected. Silvering around bottom. Trigger guard retains about half of its original blue. Stocks have nearly all of a fairly shiny renewed oil finish w/ a few minor subsequent marks. Checkering nicely cleaned up & darkened. Pad is new. Bores are very fine, bright & shiny. There is a very sm. dent on side of right bbl. 9 1/2" from breech end. Ejectors are strong & in time, trigger works well. (21-2924/MGM). CURIO. $7,000-10,000.
