ATTRACTIVE FLINTLOCK RIFLE BY WILLIAM FILMAN

(1820-1861). Cal. 45 rifled bore. NSN. Bbl. 43" full oct. Overall length 58 1/2". Bbl. signed in script “W*F”, front & rear sights both have about 5” engraved weave design. Very nice brass patchbox w/ 6 piercings, 17 silver inlays, 6 1/2" brass comb inlay has 2 piercings, 5 1/4" brass saddle plate & 5" brass toeplate w/ 3 piercings. Incised carved to rear & forward of the cheekpiece. Dark finished stock is curly maple & the gun has a Philadelphia flintlock, which appears to be original, dbl. set triggers. The cheekpiece pick holder has one piercing. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, dark iron patina w/ pitting at breech & lock. Stock is sound, well fit, hand worn patina, scattered minor cosmetic blemishes, a few sm. hairline cracks. Appears to be clean & original throughout. Mechanically fine, well discerned rifled bore.
