Tops of bbls. are engraved w/ attractive steel logos of a splayed hawk w/ gold inlaid "Acier" above &"COCKERIELL" below. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Belgian black powder proofs. Round bodied top lever casehardened action is fitted w/ peninsula backspring locks w/ serpentine rebounding hammers. Action features side clips, square crossbolt third fastener combined w/ pivoting bolt at rear & dbl. triggers. Action is engraved w/ 90% coverage rose & scroll."A. Franchi Y Cia Montevideo" is around base of hammer on each lock. Nicely streaked flesh-toned European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 5/8" Over "Red Head" open sided pad. Closely spaced point pattern checkering w/ mullered borders is at grip. A vacant silver oval along w/ a sling loop matching that attached to bottom bbls. on toeline. Matching splinter forend has Anson release. Bore diameters: left- .674. restriction .024 (Mod). Right .673 restriction .004 (IC). Minimum wall thickness: left - .032. right-.032. DAH: 2 3/8"+ DAC: 1 1/2"+. No cast. WEIGHT: 5 lbs 14 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Bbls. retain approx. 95% original blue w/ some sharp edge wear & a few nicks. Action retains 85-90% original casehardening color, thinning & browning on fences & around bottom. Locks have over 70% of their blue, are silvering at tails. Blued top lever is slightly silvered on thumbpiece. Trigger guard appears to have been cleaned to silver gray w/ traces of color. Trigger blades retain most of their casehardening color. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish w/ numerous light marks & dings & a coat of added oil. Checkering is slightly worn & a bit gummed w/ oil. Bright shiny bores w/ a hint of frosting at breech ends, w/ no visible dents or repairs. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Locks are very fine.
