ATTRACTIVELY ENGRAVED AND RELIEF SILVER INLAID
MODEL 70 WINCHESTER RIFLE MADE FOR ELMER KEITH BY PACHMAYR. Cal. 375 H&H. S# 104326. Built on a late transitional model 70 action with shaped tang this gun was built in one of Elmer's favorite calibers. The 25" medium weight barrel is fitted with flip over express rear sight and sourdough front in standard integral ramp. Winchester nomenclature is on left side of barrel and top is stamped "Custom Made by Pachmayr L.A. Calif. U.S.A.". Action has had bolt handle knurled and bolt release button altered and checkered. A Pachmayr "Lo-Swing" scope mount has been fitted. Original trigger and bottom metal are retained, trigger guard bow reshaped. Action, barrel and bottom metal are nicely engraved with varying sized open shaded scroll which covers about 30% of barrel and nearly all of action and bottom metal. This scroll is enhanced with silver wire inlaid borders which have scrolled terminations. Receiver ring is relief silver inlaid with side on head and shoulders of a bull elk. A snarling side on puma is on bridge. Floor plate has central silver figure of a standing Kodiak bear; a big horn ram is on trigger guard bow. Scope mount is also engraved with scroll as is root of bolt handle. Pistol grip stock is made of a very fine piece of well marbled and figured thin shell walnut that measures 13 5/8" over red "Old English" pad. Stock features swept Monte Carlo right hand cheekpiece of Keith design, ebony forend tip and sling loops in patent removable bases. Hard rubber grip cap has central gold oval on bottom engraved "CUSTOM MADE FOR" "ELMER KEITH" "by PACHMAYR" "L.A. CALIF. USA". Checkering of fleur de lis pattern has fancy rounded borders and design. There are shaped ribbons through pattern. Stippled areas accent checkering at points. Checkering is well cut and even. Lo-Swing mount holds Lyman all weather 2.5X scope with cross hair and post reticle. Rifle is accompanied by "Williams" carved brown leather 1" sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original Aug 1976 Gun & Ammo Magazine with article by Elmer Keith describing this rifle, its manufacture and testing, with many photos, entitled "Pachmayr's Model 70 Masterpiece" with photocopy of same.
