Alaska Copper River Bison Permit
Alaska Copper River Bison Permit
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has donated a 2015-2016 harvest permit number DI454 for the Copper River Bison. This hunt will take place in portions of GMU 11 and a portion of 13D. Season dates are September 1-March 31 and either sex can be harvested. All season dates, methods and means, restrictions, and permit hunt conditions that apply to big game hunts also apply to this harvest permit. The hunt takes place in a remote area east of the Copper River. The area can be accessed by small plane or boating down the river early in the hunt period before the river freezes. Knowing where the animals are at the time you plan to hunt is important, as is who’s land you’re on. The hunt area is comprised of public and private land, and hunters need permission from the private landowner. There are a lot of details to this hunt. The units are managed by Frank Robbins in the Glennallen office. He can be reached by phone at (907) 822-3461 or e-mail frank.robbins@alaska.gov. More details can also be found at http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=huntingmaps.hunt_details&huntfile_id=14581.
