Alaska Mountain Goat Hunt
Often regarded as the most challenging hunt in North America, here is your chance to chase White Gold. Hal LaPointe of Far North Adventures is offering up a tremendous opportunity to hunt for mountain goat in the Puget Bay area of Alaska. The donation is good for September of 2021 but, you can discuss with Hal if 2020 dates are available. Your adventure starts when you charter a float plane out of Anchorage and fly along the Prince William Sound landing on a glacier lake in the remote region of the Puget Bay. Base camp is a small cabin on the lake’s shore which provides comfortable bunks and a wood stove to warm up on the cold or rainy days. From this point you have 2 options. For those physically fit and more adventurous, you can climb to the top of the mountain and spike out in a tent right where the goats live. For those looking for a less physically demanding hunt, Hal will take you along the ocean’s shore where goats will come out on the cliffs overhead. Either way, Hal has been experiencing 100% success for the past 30 years. You can also add a black bear or wolverine to your bag for a $500 trophy fee each if the opportunity presents itself. Included in the hunt are 1x1 guide service, accommodations and meals in camp, supplies for hunting, Skinning, Quartering and help packing out your trophy. Fishing after the hunt is over is always an option with the ocean on one side and the lake on the other. Not included in the offering are; AK hunting license ($160) or fishing license, mountain goat tag ($600), wolverine tag ($350) or black bear tag ($450), Meat processing, hunting equipment such as guns, clothing, boots, etc., airfare to Anchorage, float plane to camp (Approx $1000 R/T) expenses before or after the hunt in Anchorage, taxidermy and tips. Chapter member Bob Newland did this hunt in September 2018 and you can reach out to him with questions. Please stop by Hal’s booth at the banquet and thank him for this generous donation.
