Antique Frame, Barrel Spindle and Inner Workings for an Allen's Patent Bar Hammer Double Action Pepperbox Pistol, #374, most likely .31 cal. with a 4'' barrel group originally, made in Worcester, Mass. c. 1847-65. Included are a floral-scroll engraved frame with integral bag-shaped grip straps and barrel spindle, a scroll-engraved nipple shield, bar hammer marked ''Allen's Patent/1845'' on left side, U-shaped mainspring and complete inner workings, sideplate screw (sideplate, barrel group and grips are missing). Condition is about near fine for what is included: metal surfaces retain 10%-15% original blue and a smooth, clean gunmetal gray patina otherwise; hammer shows darkly-mottled case colors, serial numbers match, markings and engraving are sharp. Action functions as designed; parts all appear original and fit together well; included is an unrelated, scroll-engraved right-side metal grip panel from an unknown pistol, also numbered ''374'' in fine condition. Est.: $100-$200. (Antique)
