'Commission Rifle, 88/05 Pattern' German military bolt-action service rifle chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser, manufactured circa 1890. Germany provided many model 88 rifles to Turkey shortly after the outbreak of WWI. Features a partially blued finish, 29" barrel with tubular metal shroud, dovetailed inverted 'v' front sight, flip-up ladder rear sight marked in Farsi, cleaning rod, two barrel bands with bayonet lug on the front band, bent bolt handle, manual two-position safety, internal 5 round magazine, stripper clip guide, sling swivels, smooth trigger and full-length straight grip wood shoulder stock with smooth metal buttplate. Various Markings: Front Barrel Band - "E.B. 1343.", "S" over the chamber and scattered Cyrillic characters on the bolt. Rifle exhibits approximately 50% bluing on the barrel shroud and displays a brown patina on the magazine/bottom metal. Action is smooth, the bore is dark & dirty and the wood stock is good+ with blemishes. Condition is NRA Good. ***Antique Firearm***
