American Arms Co. Top-Break Hammerless Model 1890 SA/DA 5-Shot Revolver, NSNV, .38 S&W cal., 3.25" ribbed barrel, round blade front and fixed rear sights, hammerless, extractor, nickel finish, checkered two-piece hard rubber eagle grips, 5-shot fluted cylinder with selector switch on left side of frame. Top of barrel rib is marked "AMERICAN ARMS CO. BOSTON/PAT. MAY 25, 1886/Mar. 11'89/JUNE 17'90", indicating production prior to 1897, when the company moved from Boston to Chicopee Falls, MA. Mfg'd 1890-1901. Revolver is in near fine overall condition retaining approx. 85%-90% flaking nickel finish with light scratches, edgewear, a freckling of light surface rust on the left frame, and double index lines on the cylinder. Trigger shows muted case coloring. Left side of frame features a unique selector switch, allowing the user to choose either single or double action. Additionally, there is a manual safety behind the locking catch, above the rear grip strap. Grips are very good and fit well. Action works well, bore is fair with defined rifling. Est.: $150-$250.
