American assembled flintlock musket of the Revolutionary War era combining Continental and British elements in a reddish colored re-stock probably of American origin. The gun has small proofs on the left breech ofthe barrel possibly “J.A.” with a “J” on the side plate, which appears French. The touch hole has been enlarged to work with a replaced during period of use lock. The stock has molding around the tang and a sharp peak to the comb indicating a commercial maker with American motifs. The rifle is 54 ½” in total length with a 44” barrel. A crude ramrod of the period is included. The stock is very good plus condition and themusket has a good matching patina on the lock and metal parts. The lock is not operating at the time of description. $2,500-$5,000. (Antique).
