*This piece was acquired prior to the Marine Mammal Protection Act. It is Pre-1972.* Antique, believed to be 1840's Era "Martin Van Buren" Scrimshawed WHALE TOOTH. It has a Nice Patina. It measures 5" Tall x 2.25" Wide x 1 5/8" Thick and Weighs 10 oz. This is Not a Reproduction! The Hollow inside goes to a smooth clean point. If you look closely at the base, you can see faint concentric circles or layers of Dentin. Whale teeth grow in layers much like a tree. TAXIDERMY
