this antique 19th-century shooting tournament target ball is in overall very good condition, presenting vibrant color and structural integrity. Prospective buyers should note expected light handling wear, faint surface scuffs, and typical rough pontil scarring on the mouth from the original glass-blowing process. The sphere measures exactly 2. 66 inches in diameter, a standard size designed to fit early spring-loaded mechanical launchers. Pertinent markings include a deeply embossed square grid pattern wrapping the body, which was intentionally designed to prevent lead shot from sliding off the slick glass surface upon impact. The lot is complete as a single standalone glass sphere as pictured, surviving un-shattered and empty of any original interior packing fibers. This fascinating piece of firearms history reflects the rapid rise of competitive marksmanship contests and traveling wild west shows during the late victorian era.
