this antique spanish-american war-era u.S. Navy mills canvas cartridge belt is in overall very good condition, presenting a beautiful, honest military campaign character. The woven tan canvas body exhibits typical light service staining, minor edge fraying, and a natural aged darkening along the cartridge loops from past ammunition storage. The belt body measures exactly 34â½ inches in overall length excluding the buckle, with a standard wide-profile width of approximately 3â½ inches. Pertinent markings include a highly striking, embossed u.S. Navy liberty cap or phrygian cap motif directly centered on the polished brass plate buckle face. The lot is complete as a single standalone woven cartridge belt as pictured, without any accompanying loose ammunition or original military depot packaging. This rare piece of martial gear represents late-19th-century american military contract production, showcasing the patented mills woven design favored by maritime and coastal forces during the spanish-american war.
