Antique 4-Barrel Double Action Ring Trigger Percussion Pepperbox, of Belgian mfg. in the Mariette style but unmarked as to maker, #1800, 10mm/.40 cal., 2.25'' round screw-off barrels are numbered 1-4 with corresponding numbered bulbous bolsters having integral flash shields between nipples having ''(crown)/R'' and oval ''ELG(star)'' Liege proofmarks; floral-scroll engraved frame has underhammer striker/ring trigger, integral bag-style gripstraps with swivel ring at butt, varnished two-piece ebonized hardwood grips with engraved screw escutcheons. Mfg'd ca. 1840s-60s, likely originally with case hardened or Damascus-striped barrel group, hammer and striker, blued frame. Condition is very good retaining no original metal finishes but an overall smooth gunmetal gray (possible traces of striping to barrels) with sharp engraving and markings. Grips are smooth and sound with small chips out at both lower frame junctures. Action is crisp; smoothbores are clean, each with 4 muzzle notches for removal key. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
