Antique Belgian Bolt Action Semi-Schuetzen Target Rifle, NVSN, 10mm cal., 28.75" heavy octagonal barrel, hooded bead front sight, 6.5" clamping rail for scope (not present), marked "100" in a line of Belgian proofs including the oval "ELG/(star)" Liege and black-powder view marks; sturdy action has 2" clamping rail at rear (likely for a detachable rear target sight) and large octagonal bolt handle with spring-action cocking-knob at rear; halfstock of varnished walnut with fancy checkering panels at wrist has raised aprons at either side of lock, raised 5" cheekrest at left, Schnabel-style forend tip, scrolled finger-grip trigger guard attached to separate 10.25" floorplate with a large rear screw, 2" oval brass plate with octagonal hole for a separate accoutrement (not present) at right butt. Double set triggers. Mfg'd pre-1898. Condition is good to very good retaining approx. 90% thinning barrel blue-brown, 93% deep glossy trigger guard blue, and pleasing muted case colors. Stock is sound having nice checkering and carving, scattered wear, nicks and dings, missing the fancy Swiss-style buttplate. Action is smooth and crisp, bore is bright having occasional light roughness and sharp rifling. Est.: $500-$750. (Antique)
