Antique Belgian Brass-Barrel Percussion Blunderbuss Pistol, NVSN, approx. .50 cal., 6.5'' round-to-octagonal brass barrel has iron tang, cannon-turned rings at juncture, bells to 1.825'' at muzzle, marked with the oval ''ELG'' (Liege) proof mark at breech; flat lockplate with pointed rear teat is unmarked, has matching hammer, brass nipple bolster; brass furniture includes loop trigger guard with simple pineapple front and long rear tangs, oval buttcap, two wing-shaped sideplates, single fancy ferrule retaining the steel flared-tip ramrod; varnished walnut (possibly rootwood) fullstock has raised panels at either side of lock, raised molding at oval butt. Condition is very good, the iron surfaces with cleaned light pitting and reddish rust forming on hammer and tang; brass may have been brass (or gold) plated, shows smooth age patina with scattered minor marks. Stock is smooth and sound showing hairline cracks at left side above trigger and at left and right muzzle, nice grain and finish. Action is strong and smooth; bore is clean and smooth showing general light etching. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
