Antique ''British Bull Dog'' Style Double-Action Revolver, unmarked as to maker but of Belgian origin, NVSN, .44 (Webley?) CF cal., 2.5'' teardrop barrel with blade front and topstrap groove rear sights marked ''Cal 44'' on top flat; plain round 5-shot cylinder with long lead-in grooves is marked with the ''ELG (star)'' Liege proof mark, what appears to be ''AB'' and ''4'' on rear face, ''C'' on front; solid frame has removable cylinder axle and ejector rod at front, central hammer with gracefully curved spur, hinged loading gate and tiny marks to right side, separate loop trigger guard, and integral ''bird's head'' gripstraps, two-piece checkered hardwood grips. Mfg'd ca. 1870s-1890s, originally in likely full nickel-plated finish. Condition is very good retaining no original finish but for traces of nickel on trigger guard, and an overall smooth cleaned gunmetal gray color. Grips are sound showing moderate wear but no cracks or losses. Action is smooth; lockup is somewhat loose; bore shows overall frosting and well defined rifling. Est.: $250-$400.
