Antique British Military Percussion Musketoon, NVSN, .69 cal., pin-retained 26.625" round barrel with stud-like front sight (likely doubles as a bayonet mount) marked with stacked "(crown)/TP/(broad arrow)", "(crown)/B/7" and "(crown)/(broad arrow)" proof marks at left breech, "(crown)/17" over "(crown/17" at center-breech, and without a rear sight; line-engraved flat lockplate is marked with a large "(crown)" at center; brass furniture includes loop trigger guard with long rear tang and large "V"-shaped lanyard loop at front, buttplate marked "5" at top screw, two winged lock screw escutcheons, nosecap and two ferrules retaining the button-tip steel ramrod; fullstock of oil-finished walnut has raised aprons at either side of lock. Mfg'd ca. 1850s-60s. Condition is good, the barrel being smooth gunmetal gray-brown with pitting in nipple area, the lock and hammer are smooth gunmetal gray, the brass with a light patina. Edges and markings are sharp. Stock is very good with several dings and indentations, and markings to buttstock (illegible).  Action is crisp but doesn't hold full-cock, smoothbore shows moderate erosion for 2/3s of its length toward muzzle end.
