Antique Cased British Bar-Hammer Pepperbox Revolving Pistol of High Quality, but Unmarked as to Maker, NVSN, .36 cal., 3" ribbed barrel group has engraved muzzle flourishes and Birmingham proofs at breech; lightly floral-engraved frame is stamped "EVS" at left, has flared round nipple shield, engraved bar-hammer and separate loop trigger guard, integral grip straps with highly detailed deep-relief oval "grotesque mask" buttcap, 2-pc. finely checkered walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1830s. Condition is near excellent retaining bright case colors to barrels, all silver to frame and buttcap, traces on trigger guard. Grips show sharp checkering and virtually no wear. Action is crisp, smoothbores are clean. Case of varnished mahogany has two full-width repaired cracks to lid with a 2" scalloped brass escutcheon, missing front circular key escutcheon, is lined in faded red velveteen and partitioned for the pistol, 2-cavity steel bullet mold, 5.5" wood-handle ramrod, japanned tin of percussion caps (empty) with red "Eley Bros." label and a number of cast lead projectiles, all in very good or better condition.
