Antique Colt 3rd Model 1851 Navy Revolver, having small-rounded steel trigger guard, #72398, .36 cal., 7.5'' octagonal barrel with standard sights, marked with maker's name and Hartford address on top flat; round 6-shot cylinder has the rolled naval battle scene, ''Colt's Patent No. 2398'' and ''Pat. Sept. 10th, 1855'' (the latter upside-down); open-top frame has central hammer and trigger, two-piece steel gripstraps, one-piece varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1857 with blued barrel, cylinder, trigger and gripstraps, case hardened frame, lever and hammer. Grips are sound showing wear/nicks at butt sides and no original finish. All serial numbers match including lever and wedge.
