Antique Colt Ejectorless Round Barrel Pocket Revolver, #307757, .38 CF cal., 3.5'' round barrel without ejector marked with maker's name and Hartford address on top; rebated 5-shot round cylinder roll-engraved with the ''Stagecoach Hold-Up'' scene and ''Colt's Patent/No. 07757''; open-top frame has two-line 1871-72 patent dates at left, conversion ring on recoil shield, two-piece brass gripstraps (trigger guard marked ''N'' at front bow and ''31 Cal'' at left bolster), one-piece varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd ca. 1873-80, originally as a cartridge revolver with blued barrel and cylinder, case hardened frame and hammer, silver-plated straps. Condition is very good+, the barrel retaining approx. 25% blue (mainly at bottom and lug area) mixing with scattered oxidation; the cylinder with traces of blue and a light but fully visible scene; the frame shows muted case colors, bright on the hammer; gripstraps with traces of silver. Grips are particularly fine having approx. 90% original glossy varnish with light marks and wear at bottom of sides. Visible numbers match (gripstraps were mis-numbered at the Colt factory then re-numbered to correctly match); barrel address is light, other markings sharp. Action is crisp and smooth; bore is bright showing occasional very light oxidation and sharp rifling. Est.: $600-$900. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
