Rare Mule Ear percussion combination Rifle/Shotgun. Scarce 1800's American design. Circa mid-1830s to mid-1800s. Fired by the two independent percussion hammers on the right side of the firearm. 32" heavy octagonal barrels with fixed iron sights. Brass triggerguard, and buttplate. Stripped maple stock. Action works. The upper rifle barrel is approx. .46 Cal, and the bottom shotgun barrel is about .50 cal. There is a signature on the flat of the lower barrel, but its faint, unreadable. Metal has turned a brown patina with light scattered pitting throughout. Stock is good. Metal appears to have been painted black at some point, with remnants remaining. Crude construction.
