Antique English Screw-Barrel Single-Shot Percussion Pistol, NVSN, approx. .45 cal., 1.75'' round iron barrel has border engraving at muzzle and an integral wrench lug with adjacent proof mark; brass boxlock frame has a gracefully-shaped hammer, fancy curved flash shield, sliding rear safety, blued folding trigger that drops when the hammer is cocked, another proof mark ahead of trigger, and is floral engraved with ''Moore'' within a ribbon on left side, and ''London'' on right; finely-checkered and varnished walnut (perhaps root wood), bag-style grips have a diamond-shape silver wrist inlay marked ''CN/RN'' (Royal Navy?). Mfg'd ca. 1840s-50s. Condition is good. Barrel retains no original finish but is a smooth gunmetal gray overall; the frame has a darkened age tone with clear engraving and markings; trigger retains bright fire-blue. Grips are sound and smooth with only light wear and much original finish. Action is stout; smoothbore is clean with light frosting. Est.: $350-$500. (Antique)
