Antique European Military Percussion Pistol, in the Style of the French Model 1822 Pistol, altered from flintlock, #1392, approx. .70 cal., 7.75'' barrel, without sights, stamped ''GB'' in an oval cartrouche at breech, and ''P'' (encircled) ahead of nipple bolster, which is marked ''R'' (encircled); beveled lockplate with long pointed rear tang is marked ''(crown)/P/35'''' behind iron frizzen filler; hammer with an impressed ''(crown)/PA'' cartouche is curved to align with nipple; brass mountings include single wide barrel band (marked ''(star)/D'' and having a long tang adjoining the serpentine sideplate (with same mark), triggerguard (with iron tang having ''(star)/D'' and ''(star)/g'' marks, and buttcap marked ''T'' (encircled) over ''1392'', with iron lanyard ring; iron backstrap marked ''D'' (encircled), extending to top tang. Varnished halfstock of European hardwood. Condition is very good: the iron parts being smooth ''arsenal bright'', the brass with an aged patina. Stock is sound with the expected marks of military use. Original button-tip iron ramrod. Markings are clear, action is strong; smoothbore is brilliant. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)
