Antique Japanese Fuchi/Kashira Set, Signed. Nice set of fuchi and kashira fittings for the tsuka handle of a Japanese sword. Circa late 18th to early 19th Century. Made of copper/shakudo with a thin brass or gold alloy covering, and raised and carved figures of a god with a long beard reading a book under a tree, and the same god, stroking his beard on the kashira in front of a tent or banner. Fine details in copper, gold, and shakudo, with excellent carving. There is a two-character signature on the fuchi that reads "Naoyasu". The kashira has two-piece shitodome eyelets on either side for the ito cord to pass through. Includes a wooden storage box. The fuchi measures 37mm long x 22mm wide, the kashira is 34mm long x 18.5mm wide. Condition is very good, the sides of both pieces showing wear to the brass/gold finish, and very minor wear and light dings from use. Est.: $400-$600.
