Antique Japanese Kozuka Shakudo/Nanako Dragon & Ken, Ca. Edo Period, probably mid-18th Century to mid-19th Century. Nice kozuka handle for the small side knife on a Japanese sword. Made of smooth shakudo with a nanako stippled plate featuring a copper dragon with gold, and shakudo highlights, climbing a silver ken and vajra in high relief. Unsigned. Measures 97mm long by 14mm wide. Includes an information sheet by a Japanese Sword dealer. Condition is very good, the sides and back showing light wear and age, with a few minor dings mainly on the front mouth opening. The shakudo/nanako plate shows light wear and age from use. The dragon shows some wear on the high edges from use, but overall has a pleasing dark patina to the copper and silver details. Includes a wooden storage box. Est.: $500-$750.
