Antique Marlin-Ballard No. 3 Single-Shot Gallery Rifle, #19309, .22 RF cal., 24" octagonal barrel has Rocky Mountain-type sights; frame marked "Marlin Fire Arms Co., New Haven, CT U.S.A./Patented February 9, 1875/Ballard's Patent Nov. 5, 1861" has faceted top, serpentine loop operating lever that drops breech open for loading/auto ejection; varnished walnut forend has semi-Schnabel tip, matching straight buttstock a steel crescent buttplate. Double set triggers. Mfg'd ca. 1876-91. Condition is fine retaining approx. 96% barrel blue, thinning at muzzle, and a soft gunmetal-brown patina to the receiver. Stocks are sound and smooth showing minor handling marks and much varnish. Edges and markings are sharp, action is smooth, bore is bright showing scattered oxidation and fine rifling.
