Antique Marlin Model 1888 Lever Action Rifle, #19680 (very early 1st year production, as numbers began with #19559), .44 W (.44-40) CF cal., 24'' octagonal barrel with dovetailed blade front and buckhorn-style rear sights, marked with maker's name, address and 1887 patent date on top flat; 13-round mag tube; receiver with early top ejection. Originally in blued finish, with case hardened hammer, loop operating lever, and crescent buttplate; oil-stained walnut forend and buttstock. Mfg'd 1888. Condition is very good. Metal shows no original finish but is smooth gunmetal gray. Stocks are sound with only minor use/handling marks, nice grain and color, and perhaps an added coat of finish. Action is smooth; bore is lightly etched but clean with distinct rifling. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)*
