Antique Marlin Model 1889 Lever Action Rifle, #41349, .38 Win. (.38-40) CF cal., blued 24'' round barrel with dovetailed long-blade front and buckhorn rear sights, marked with maker's name, address and 1887-89 patent dates in two lines on top, and ''38 W'' at breech; tubular under-barrel cartridge magazine; blued receiver with side ejection is marked ''Marlin Safety'' on top and ser. no. at lower front; loop operating lever with latch at rear; varnished walnut forearm with steel nosecap, matching buttstock with steel crescent buttplate. Mfg'd 1890. Condition is very good. Barrel and mag tube retain perhaps 10% original blue in protected areas and the balance an overall smooth brown patina with sharp edges and markings; case hardened hammer, lever and buttplate have mostly darkened/silvered out. Stocks are sound showing light marks of age and use, nice grain and color, and a later coat of varnish. Action is smooth; bore is clean with good rifling. The Model 1889 was the first Marlin rifle to feature the new side-ejection. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)*
