Antique Merwin, Hulbert & Co. Frontier Double Action Army Revolver, #5307 (under left grip), .44-40 CF cal., 7" round barrel marked with the company name, address and 1877-80-82-83 patent dates on top, and "The Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Co., Norwich, Conn. U.S.A." (actual maker) at left, has integral topstrap and swings to left with cylinder for cartridge extraction; long-fluted 6-shot cylinder; frame marked "Calibre Winchester 1873" at left and "Merwin, Hulbert & Co., N.Y./Pocket Army" at right, has sliding barrel release button at bottom-front, removable left sideplate, standard hammer, right-side vertical-sliding loading gate (missing), separate loop trigger guard, integral "bird's head" gripstraps with sharp skull cracker and lanyard loop, checkered hard rubber grips with vacant circular panel at top. Mfg'd 1880s. Condition is very good retaining approx. 50% original nickel with scattered discoloration and light erosion. Grips show light wear; right grip with long central crack but sound. Barrel lockup is tight, action is crisp, bore is bright showing general light frosting showing minor erosion at muzzle and fine rifling. Worthy of a good cleaning and TLC. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)
