Antique (Probably European) Flintlock Military Pistol, NVSN, .45 cal., 10.25" octagonal barrel, marked "B" at breech and with 8 circles at muzzle; dovetailed brass low-blade front and notched iron rear sights; lock has "tulip"-like mark stamped in two places, integral pan and "swan-neck" cock; furniture consists of steel trigger guard, small brass sideplate and octagonal lock screw escutcheon, two brass barrel keys, nosecap, and two pipes retaining the tulip-tip hardwood ramrod. Stock of oil-finished walnut has flat-sided bag grip, raised aprons at either side of lock, step at lower pipe. Mfg'd ca. 1800-10. Condition is good having smooth mottled gunmetal gray-brown barrel and trigger guard, dark lock, cleaned bright brass, sharp edges and markings. Stock is sound and smooth with minimal marks and nice finish. Action is crisp, smoothbore shows uniform light-to-moderate erosion. Included is a modern walnut case lined in red velvet, in excellent condition. Est.: $1,500-$1,800. (Antique)
