Antique Remington Navy Model 1867 Rolling Block Breechloading Single-Shot Carbine, #3545, .50-45 CF cal., 23.25'' round barrel with carbine open sights, marked with a naval anchor and ''3545'' at breech; receiver with rolling block hammer and breechblock marked ''P/F.C.W. (military inspector Frank C. Warner)/(naval anchor)'' on right side, and maker's name, address and 1864-66 patent dates on top tang; two-piece oil-finished walnut stocks, the forend held by a single band with sling swivel, the matching buttstock with sling swivel at belly and steel carbine buttplate. Mfg'd ca. 1868-69, in only 5,095 qty., originally with blued barrel, case hardened frame. Condition is very good, the metal a cleaned gunmetal gray with cleaned scattered light erosion (heavier on barrel), crisp edges and markings. Stocks are solid having the expected light dings of military use, a 3'' wood patch at right-side barrel-frame juncture and no inspector's cartouche visible as buttstock was sanded with added oil finish. Action is strong and smooth; bore clean but frosted with good rifling. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
