Antique Remington-Smoot Patent New Model No. 3 Spurtrigger Revolver, NVSN, .30 CF cal., 2.75'' octagonal barrel marked with maker's name, address and ''Oct. 21, 1873'' patent date on full-length top rib, has sliding ejector rod at right side; fluted 5-shot round cylinder; solid frame with right-side loading groove, integral backstrap, separate spurtrigger sheath and inner gripstrap, two-piece finely-checkered black hard rubber ''bird's head'' grips. Mfg'd ca. 1878-88, originally with full nickel-plated finish, case hardened hammer and fire-blued trigger. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 92% bright nickel with occasional light marks and a patch of light erosion at one cylinder flute; hammer with muted case colors, trigger with bright fire-blue. Grips with sharp checkering and excellent fit. Action is strong; bore is bright with sharp rifling. Est.: $500-$750. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
