Antique Remington Transitional Model 1888 Single Action Army Revolver, or "New Model Pocket Army," #1439 (under left grip), .44 W.C.F. (.44-40) cal., 5.75" round barrel marked "Remington Arms Co. Ilion, N.Y." on top, has near-full length lower rib with ejector rod; unmarked 6-shot fluted cylinder; solid frame marked "44 C.F.W" at left, has right-side hinged loading gate, separate loop trigger guard, integral grip straps with lanyard ring at butt, checkered hard rubber grips with the entwined "RA" logo at top. Mfg'd ca. 1888-89. Condition is very good, showing traces of original blue but mostly dark gunmetal gray with a few spots of light discoloration. Grips show highpoint wear, left side has a small chip at screw and small chip at bottom, right side has non-matching repair at lower rear. There is a crack in the hammer. Edges and markings are sharp, action is strong, bore is clean showing overall moderate erosion and good rifling. Est.: $1,000-$1,500. (Antique)
