Antique Jacob Rupertus 8-Shot Revolving Pepperbox Pistol, #2640, .22 RF cal., blued 3'' round fluted and tapered barrel group, has a removable steel ejector rod with knurled head in its center; silver-plated brass frame has the circular marking ''Rupertus' Patent/July 19th, 1864'' on left side and ''Rupertus' Pat. Pistol Mfg. Co./Philada.'' on right, a rotating steel breech with hinged loading gate (acts as a safety), spurtrigger sheath and integral gripstraps; two-piece varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd 1860s, in a quantity of about 3,000 pistols. Condition is very good+. The barrel group shows traces of original blue but is mostly gunmetal gray with scattered light peppering at breech, the frame retains approx. 85% tarnished silver-plate. Grips are smooth and solid with much original finish. Action is fine; smoothbores are clean and bright with scattered light etching at muzzles. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)
