*This piece was acquired prior to the Marine Mammal Protection Act. It is Pre-1972.* Big Authentic Antique SPERM WHALE Tooth with Nautical Scrimshaw. It measures 8.75" Long (along the outside curve) x 2.5" Wide x 1/2" Thick and Weighs 15 oz. It showcases 2 detailed maritime engravings of tall ships. It has been polished for the scrimshaw and the patina is lovely There is no date or signature, it is believed to be from the 19th century. Scrimshawed whale teeth is a traditional folk art form developed by whalers during the late 18th and 19th centuries. TAXIDERMY
