Antique Smith & Wesson Model 1 Third Issue Pocket Revolver, #57888, .22 Short RF cal., 3.125'' round barrel marked with maker's name, address and 1855-59-60 patent dates on full-length top rib, has top hinge, bottom latch and cartridge extractor rod; fluted 7-shot round cylinder; two-pin frame with top cylinder stop, integral spurtrigger sheath and ''bird's head'' gripstraps, two-piece varnished rosewood grips. Mfg'd ca. 1868-81, originally with full nickel-plated finish, case hardened hammer and trigger. Condition is near excellent retaining approx. 97% nickel, hammer and trigger have silvered out. Grips are smooth and fit well with 2-3 light marks and 97% varnish. Action is smooth (but does not hold full-cock); barrel hinge is strong; bore is bright with scattered frosting and sharp rifling.
