Antique Smith & Wesson Model No. 1 Second Issue Single Action Tip-Up Spurtrigger Revolver, #88741, .22 Short RF cal., 3-3/16'' top-hinged octagonal barrel with small blade front and hammer notch rear sights, marked with maker's name and address on full-length top rib, has spring-loaded release at bottom; round 7-shot cylinder has what appears to be ''T7'' marked on front face (repeated on rear face of barrel lug), and ''Patented April 3, 1855, July 5, 1859 & Dec 18, 1860'' in tiny letters on circumference; brass spurtrigger frame has integral gripstraps marked ''88741'' on flat butt and two-piece varnished rosewood grips. Mfg'd ca. 1860-68, originally with blued barrel and cylinder, silver plated frame. Condition is very good, the barrel is clean gunmetal, the cylinder a darker tone, the brass frame with perhaps 15% blackened silver. Grips are sound and smooth with approx. 25% varnish. Sharp edges and markings; barrel hinge is secure; action functions; bore shows overall black powder etching with distinct rifling. Est.: $250-$400. (Antique)(John Ackerman collection)
