Antique Sharps & Hankins Model 3B Single Action Spurtrigger Four-Barrel Pepperbox Pistol, #9414, .32 RF cal., 3.5'' blued barrel group, having small German silver blade and frame-groove rear sights marked in top flute, ''Address Sharps & Hankins, Philadelphia, Penn.'' In one line; case hardened frame having integral gripstraps marked on right side, ''Sharps Patent/Jan. 25, 1859'' in two lines; hammer with unique rotating striker; one-piece varnished walnut grips. Knurled round button on left side releases barrel group to slide forward for cartridge loading/manual extraction. Mfg'd 1859-74. Originally with blued and case hardened finishes. Condition is excellent, the barrel group retaining approx. 96% deep dark original blue, the frame showing soft case colors, the gripstraps gunmetal gray, the hammer showing mottled case hardening, the trigger with bright fire-blue. Grips are smooth and retain approx. 95% original varnish, a very few minor handling marks, fit well and have excellent, almost rosewood-like grain and color. Markings and edges are very sharp, screw head slots are unblemished. Action functions well; bores are clean and smooth with sharp rifling. A truly exceptional example of its type, of which only about 2,000 were mfg'd. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)
