Antique Sharps No. 4-B Breechloading Four-Barrel Pepperbox, #8337, .32 Long RF cal., blued 2.5'' barrel cluster has a tiny blade front sight, slides forward for cartridge loading/extraction; nickel-plated iron frame with integral spurtrigger sheath and ''bird's head'' gripstraps, marked ''C. Sharps Patent/Jan. 25, 1859'' on right side, has a left-side barrel release button, and hammer with sequential rotating firing pin; varnished one-piece rosewood grips. Mfg'd ca. 1859-74. Condition is very good. Barrel retains traces of original finish mainly in the flutes, is otherwise smooth gunmetal gray having scattered erosion at left side; frame retains perhaps 30% original nickel (difficult to discern, as colors match closely); grips are smooth and solid with thin finish. Action is tight and smooth; bores are mostly shiny with scattered light frosting and distinct rifling; barrel mechanism is secure. Est.: $300-$500. (Antique)
