Antique Smith & Wesson No. 3 First Model Russian Single Action Revolver, #9865, .44 S&W Russian CF cal., 8" round top-break barrel marked with maker's name, address, 1860-65-69 patent dates and "Russian Model"; full-length top rib with hinged thumb-latch and fluted 6-shot round cylinder; frame has large front barrel hinge, removable left sideplate, separate loop trigger guard and integral gripstraps with lanyard loop at flat butt, 2-pc. oil-finished walnut grips. Commercial model, mfg'd ca. 1871-74. Condition is good retaining no original finish (traces in cylinder flutes), showing overall gunmetal gray with scattered light erosion, clear markings and smooth grips that fit well. Action is crisp but does not rotate cylinder; bore is bright showing scattered light erosion and shallow rifling. Est.: $900-$1,200. (Antique)
