Antique Stevens-Conlin No. 38 Second Issue Single-Shot Pistol, #250, .22 RF cal., 10.125'' tip-up round-to-octagonal barrel with dovetailed bead-blade front and notched rear sights, and auto-extraction, marked with the ''J. Stevens & Co.'' name, address and 1864 patent date on left angled flat; large brass frame has front hinge, knurled barrel release button at rear, firing pin in bushing, central hammer, separate loop trigger guard with finger-spur, and long integral grip straps with weighted oval butt, two-piece checkered and varnished walnut grips. Mfg'd pre-1898, with blued barrel, nickel-plated frame and straps. Condition is near fine retaining approx. 50% dull barrel blue and 75% nickel showing scattered nicks/wear (esp. at hinge area, inner gripstrap and buttcap). Grips are sound and smooth with sharp checkering and much original finish. Edges and markings are sharp; action is crisp; bore shows overall frosting and defined rifling. Est.: $500-$750. (Antique)
